My mechanic swapped a $12 sensor and my 2014 Focus idles smooth, but my brother says I got lucky and the real fix is coming
Dropped my 2014 Focus at Midas on 8th street three weeks ago because it was shaking at red lights like a washing machine. They put in a new mass airflow sensor for $12 plus labor and now it purrs, no codes, nothing. My brother keeps saying those sensors just go bad when something upstream is dumping oil on them, so I'm on borrowed time. Was his theory right or does a cheap sensor sometimes just wear out on its own? Curious if anyone here has replaced one and had it actually last.
