Am I the only one who reads the fine print on extended warranties? Got burned on a $2,800 transmission repair
Last month my 2018 Ford Escape started slipping gears and the shop in Mesa quoted me $2,800 for a new transmission. I thought my extended warranty would cover it since I paid $1,800 for that plan three years ago. Turns out the contract had a clause that required all maintenance done at the dealer, and I had been going to a local mechanic for oil changes. They denied the claim and I was stuck paying out of pocket. I dug through the paperwork and found the exclusion on page 7 in tiny font. Now I'm wondering if anyone else has actually had success fighting a denial like this or if I'm just out of luck. What's the best way to push back on these companies?
