Warning: found a control arm with a hairline crack on a 2018 Civic at a used lot in Tampa last Friday

I was just poking around a buddy's lot waiting for him to finish up a sale and spotted it on a car they were about to put up for sale. The crack was right near the ball joint, barely visible unless you really looked. Could have snapped on someone going 70 on I-4. Has anyone else seen stuff like this slipping through on newer models?

Buying a used car, always check the suspension joints yourself before signing anything.

Is it really that serious for the average buyer though? Most people can't even tell a worn suspension joint from a good one just by looking at it. Seems like overkill unless you're buying a real beater with obvious problems.
