Swapped a Bosch alternator for a Duralast Gold and I'm kicking myself

Needed a quick replacement for my 2001 F-150 on Saturday so I grabbed a Duralast Gold from the local AutoZone instead of ordering a Bosch. It's been three days and the voltage regulator is already acting up with the gauge bouncing around. Has anyone else had bad luck with these rebuilds, or did I just get a lemon?

Swap that Duralast back ASAP. I've been down this road before with their rebuilds. The voltage regulators in those things are junk straight out of the box, especially for Ford trucks. You probably got a bad one, but honestly it's a common problem with their whole line. Take it off, bring it to a different parts store if you can, and see if they'll exchange it for a Motorcraft or a Bosch. Don't waste time trying to warranty just the regulator part because it'll just happen again.

My buddy tried the same thing on his 2000 Silverado and the voltage regulator fried his battery in about a week. He had to replace both parts and still had a dead truck for a few days. AutoZone stuff seems fine for some things but alternators are not one of them.
