Rant: People tightening drain plugs with an impact gun like it's a lug nut

Watched a guy at the shop next door put 90 ft-lbs on a 14mm oil pan plug and I just know he's chasing stripped threads in that pan next change. Why risk a $200 pan over saving 10 seconds by hand?

Man that's rough... some people just don't get that hand tight plus a little turn is all you need for a drain plug. Had a buddy strip his out last year and it was a real pain to fix.

Buddy of mine did the same thing on his old F-150. Cranked it down with a breaker bar like he was torquing lug nuts. Snapped the plug right off flush with the pan. We spent four hours drilling and easy-outing that thing. Ended up having to weld a nut onto what was left. Never seen a guy look so defeated in a driveway.
