Question about the new quick-lube place on 5th Street
I stopped by that new 10-minute oil change spot on 5th Street yesterday and saw their techs using a single torque wrench for every drain plug on every car. They didn't even check the spec sheet, just gave it a few clicks and moved on. How do you guys handle making sure quick service places don't strip plugs when you send your own car in?

Wow, that's a huge red flag right there. Doesn't that just show they don't care about doing it right? I mean, a torque wrench is a tool, not a magic wand. If they aren't even looking up the spec for each car, how can they possibly get it right? What's the point of even having the tool then?

Actually a lot of mechanics know the common specs by heart. Lug nuts are often around 80-100 ft-lbs for most cars. They're not just guessing.
