Overheard a guy at the parts counter say something that made me laugh
I was waiting for a serpentine belt at the O'Reilly's on 82nd Ave when this older guy tells the clerk his truck has been making a noise "like a badger in a washing machine" for two weeks. He said he just turned up the radio instead of checking it. Made me wonder how many of us ignore stuff way longer than we should and then act surprised when it leaves us stranded.

That badger-in-a-washing-machine guy is probably the same one who'll blame the truck for leaving him stranded next week... 82nd Ave O'Reilly's sees this stuff daily, I bet. Two weeks of noise and he just cranked the radio, real genius move there.

Yeah, it's like people think ignoring a problem will just make it go away. I see it with neighbors who just let their gutters overflow for months then act surprised when their basement floods. Or the guy who keeps driving with his check engine light on for six months then blames the mechanic for the repair cost. Really feels like some folks just refuse to connect the noise to the outcome until it's a full blown disaster. You ever notice that same pattern at work or with friends?
