Just passed number 500 on engine rebuilds and it hit different
I've been doing engine rebuilds out of my shop in Phoenix for about 12 years now, and last week I buttoned up number 500. It was just a basic Chevy 350 for a customer's truck, nothing special, but seeing that count roll over made me think about all the little tricks I've picked up along the way. Has anyone else noticed how your approach changes after a certain number of jobs, or is it just me?

Hit 300 on Ford flatheads last year and somewhere around there I stopped needing to look up torque specs for the common stuff. It's like your hands just remember what to do.

It's the same way with cooking, after a while you just know when the pan is hot enough.
