I was reading an old service manual for a 1985 Toyota pickup and found something wild

Honestly, the manual said the factory recommended oil change interval was 7,500 miles or 12 months. I found it in a box of old books at a garage sale in Boise. Tbh, I always thought those old trucks needed oil changes every 3,000 miles like clockwork. Has anyone else come across a spec that really threw off what you thought you knew about a classic vehicle?

Isn't it funny how we all just believe the common advice without checking?

Common advice works, @west.alice. Saves time.

I'll admit I'm the exact person who just blindly follows common advice without a second thought. My kitchen is full of gadgets I bought because "everyone knows" you need them, but I've never used half of them. My "emergency" backup of a backup plan is literally just a screenshot of someone's Reddit comment from 2013. Hey, if it worked for that random internet stranger, it's good enough for me.
