I was cleaning out my old toolbox and found a receipt for a set of points and condenser from 1998 that cost $12.50.
I looked it up online and a basic OBD2 scanner now costs more than my first week's pay at the shop back in '96, which really makes you think about how the tools have changed more than the work sometimes, you know?

My old timing light cost less than a pizza back then.

That's saying something. What did that timing light set you back exactly, like ten bucks or something? Times have definitely changed, even the cheap multimeters I see now are pushing fifty. Makes you wonder what kind of pizza you could have bought back then, right? Was it a whole pie or just a slice or two?

Remember when you could fix a car with a light and a prayer? Now I need a degree just to find the hood latch.
