Hit 500 brake jobs last Thursday and it got me thinking
Honestly, I didn't even keep count until a buddy asked me how many brake jobs I'd done. I started tracking after my 10th year just out of curiosity, and last Thursday I rolled past 500. That number surprised me because I never thought of myself as somebody who's done that many, but it added up fast. Mostly pads and rotors, with maybe 40 or 50 caliper swaps mixed in. It made me realize how many little tricks I've picked up along the way, like using a zip tie to hold the caliper off the line. Has anybody else hit a random milestone that caught them off guard?

The zip tie trick works okay but you're better off using a bungee cord or a piece of wire. Zip ties can snap if you bump them and then you're chasing a caliper across the floor.

Who else has learned this lesson the hard way and watched their caliper roll away like a giant metal coin?
