Had a shift last Thursday where every single comeback rolled in at once

I had three cars come back in the same day last week, all from jobs I did the month before. First one was a 2012 Honda Accord where the alternator I put in was already whining like crazy. Then a Ford Focus with a check engine light I cleared for an EGR code that didn't actually fix it. And an old Chevy Silverado with a brake line I'd replaced that sprung a leak at the fitting... What kind of luck is that for one day? Anyone else ever have a shift where it felt like the universe was testing you?

Those three cars all have notorious weak points - the Honda alternators are known to fail fast, the Focus EGR systems are a band-aid fix, and GM brake line fittings are the worst for leaking. Did you check if the Silverado had the factory recall on those lines?

I've owned a 2012 Civic for 6 years and my alternator is still fine at 120k miles, so I'm not sure it's that widespread of an issue @lisa_jones21. The EGR thing on the Focus sounds scary but most people just clean it out and move on without replacing anything. And GM brake lines are bad but once you swap them for aftermarket ones they usually hold up just fine long term.
