Got scammed by a "rebuilt" alternator on Amazon - lost $85 and 4 hours
Bought a remanufactured alternator for my 2012 Civic off Amazon last month. Seller claimed it was tested and ready to go. Threw it in after work and it died on me 3 days later while driving home. Checked it with my multimeter and it was only putting out 11.2 volts. Anyone else had bad luck with reman units from online sellers?

Honestly, buying reman alternators online is always a gamble. I took one back to a local auto parts store instead and they tested it in front of me before I walked out, never had a problem since.

Always smart to have a local shop test it before you leave the counter.
