Found a shortcut for bleeding brakes on older Fords
I was at a salvage yard in Phoenix last month pulling parts off a 1998 F-150 and noticed the brake master cylinder had a little bleeder valve right on the front. Tried it on my own 2002 Ranger and it saved me from having to crawl under the truck to get the rears. Has anyone else spotted this on other models or is it just a Ford thing?

97 Ranger had it too, wonder if it's a phase-out thing.

Man that's a bummer to hear yours is doing the same thing. It's such a weird spot to be in when you're dealing with something that feels like it should be a simple fix but just isn't. I know mine did it for a solid year before I finally gave up and just learned to live with the click every time I hit a bump. Always wondered if it was some sort of design flaw that they just never bothered to sort out properly.

You bet it's a design flaw. I had a 2001 F-150 that did the exact same thing for about three years before I traded it in. Every time I hit a speed bump or a pothole, that same click from the front end. I took it to three different shops and they all told me nothing was loose or worn out. Drove me crazy because you know it's something, but nobody can find it. I finally just turned up the radio and pretended it wasn't happening. It's a shame because otherwise those trucks were built like tanks, but that one little noise just never got fixed.
