Dropped $210 on a smoke machine for chasing EVAP leaks and it found the one I'd missed twice
I got tired of guessing on a P0455 on a 2011 Silverado that kept coming back after I'd already smoke tested it with a borrowed unit that leaked worse than the truck. So I finally bought my own smoke machine for about $210 and the first time I used it I found a hairline crack in the filler neck hose that my old test had blown right past. That was three weeks ago and it's already paid for itself on two more leak jobs plus a vacuum line on a customer's Camry. The kicker is I almost went with a $400 name brand one but the cheaper unit held pressure just fine at 12 psi. What's the cheapest tool you've bought that ended up being the one you reach for every week?
