Watched a guy fix a crushed fender with a heat gun and a plunger at a car show in Reno
I was at the Hot August Nights show in Reno last summer and a guy with a dented rear quarter panel on a 68 Camaro pulled out a heat gun and a toilet plunger. He warmed the metal for maybe 90 seconds, stuck the plunger on, and popped about 80 percent of the dent out right there in the parking lot. I had been quoting full panel replacement on jobs like that for a decade and this old dude just saved himself probably $1,200 in bodywork with a tool from under his bathroom sink. It made me realize I was overcomplicating a lot of my glue pull work. Has anyone else tried the heat and plunger trick on a real customer car, or does it just look good in a parking lot?
