Tried to pull a dent with a $40 kit from Harbor Freight and made it 10 times worse
Last Friday a guy brought in a 2019 Corolla with a grapefruit sized dent in the rear quarter panel. Against my better judgment I told him I could pull most of it with a cheap suction and glue pull kit instead of cutting and welding a new section. Two hours later I had cracked the paint, stretched the metal past the point of no return, and the dent was actually bigger than when he drove in. I ended up eating the cost of a full panel replacement because I was trying to save him maybe $300. My boss walked over, looked at it, and just said 'you knew better than that.' I've been doing this 11 years, so this one stung. What do you all do when a customer pushes for the cheap fix and you know in your gut it's going to blow up?
