That cheap filler metal i swore by finally let me down on a Mercedes bumper repair

I used house brand mig wire for years because it was $8 a spool but it gave me porosity on a $2,000 C-Class bumper job last Tuesday. Anyone else switch to a specific brand after a bad experience and never looked back?

$8 a spool? Man, that is wild. I mean, I knew cheap wire could be iffy but I didn't know you could find it that cheap. An $8 spool on a $2,000 job though, that's a huge risk. I'd be kicking myself too if I was in your shoes. I switched to Lincoln Electric L-56 after some bad porosity on a truck frame years ago and I never looked back. The extra cost hurts at first but the peace of mind is worth it on expensive work like that Mercedes.

68 cents a foot for the good wire beats explaining to a Benz owner why their bumper looks like swiss cheese. @thead44 nailed it with the L-56, that's what i run now too.
