That body shop in Santa Fe that tried to charge me $800 for a door skin replacement
Overheard a guy at the parts counter telling his buddy he'd never use a used door again because it's more trouble than it's worth. Man I've been swapping used doors for 15 years and I pulled a perfect match off a 2018 silver Accord at the salvage yard for $150. Takes maybe 2 hours with a buddy and a wrench set. No paint blending needed. Am I the only one who thinks the whole skin and paint approach is just padding the bill?

Honestly how many of those body shop guys have ever even pulled a door at a salvage yard? Ngl I've done the same thing on my old F-150, found a perfect color match door from a wrecked one for like $100 and swapped it in an afternoon. That $800 skin job sounds like pure gravy for the shop, especially when a used bolt on part gets you out the door way cheaper and faster. I feel you man, it's frustrating watching people get upsold on work that doesn't make sense.

Oh man, you might be missing the point of proper repair work though.
