Just realized PPG has a color matching guarantee that actually pays out if they get it wrong
I was flipping through their warranty info online last night and saw they'll reimburse you for the paint and labor if their camera match is off by more than a tolerance. Never knew that was a thing. Had a 2023 Toyota pearl yesterday that took me three sprayouts to get close. Anyone ever actually file a claim on that?

You ever try to file a perfectly good warranty claim and they hit you with "well actually, your sprayout technique was the problem"? Probably easier to just buy a different brand than deal with that headache. I'd love to see the look on the counter guy's face if you rolled in with three failed sprayouts and a receipt for 40 bucks worth of reducer. Bet they'd find a way to blame your gun settings.

Oh you better believe they'll find something. I read the fine print and it basically says you have to follow their specific sprayout procedure to the letter. If you're off on your reduction ratio or didn't catalyze it exactly right they'll use that to deny you every time. Plus you gotta catch it before the customer picks up the car, which is a whole other headache.

Man, @matthew_owens9 is spot on. It's the same EVERYWHERE now - companies write these crazy specific rules so they can ALWAYS find a reason to say no. You gotta document everything but they still find some loophole.
