I've been buffing out clear coat haze wrong for years... my boss finally showed me why.

I was finishing a 2018 Civic's hood, using my usual circular motion with the buffer at about 1800 rpm. My boss, Mike, walked over and said, 'You're cooking it, not fixing it.' He grabbed the buffer, switched to a slower speed and straight-line passes, and the haze vanished instantly. How many of you had to unlearn a bad buffing habit, and what finally clicked for you?

Mike sounds like he's making a big deal over some swirl marks. It's a Civic hood, not a show car paint job.

Respect the owner's stuff, man. It's about taking care of what you have.

That 50 dollar investment in a new microfiber towel and some spray wax might not make the car faster, but it says something about the person behind the wheel. I see this same attitude everywhere now, not just with cars but with tools, yards, even how people treat their own homes. Nobody takes pride in the small stuff anymore, everything is just good enough to get by until it falls apart. A little bit of care on a 20 year old Civic hood shows more character than a pristine garage queen that never sees rain. Respecting what you got, no matter what it is, that's a dying trait.
