Exactly. The kind of lesson that sticks with you is usually the one that cost you something real. Time, money, a relationship, whatever it was. You remember it because you had to deal with the consequences. Jordan might be right that we blow things out of proportion, but when you're the one cleaning up the mess it sure doesn't feel small. Best thing you can do is just take the hit, learn what went wrong, and put a system in place so it doesn't happen again. After that you just move on and don't look back.

But is it really that big of a deal in the long run? Sometimes we make mistakes into a bigger thing than they need to be. I've messed up plenty and looking back, it usually wasn't the end of the world. Maybe the lesson wasn't as hard as it felt at the time.
