Found a trick for blending metallic paint on door jambs
Been fighting metallic paint blending for years on door jambs and edges. The spray never matched the rest of the panel no matter what I did. Tried using a dry coat method last week on a 2018 Silverado. Laid down the base, then dusted a light pass from 12 inches out. Blended perfect. Customer couldn't tell where the repair stopped. Anyone else use dry dusting for metallics or got a better way?

Dry dusting is the ONLY way to go for metallics on edges. I started doing it a few years back and it saves SO much headache. Absolutely kills the halo effect before it even starts.

Ha! Dry dusting saved my bacon on a pearl white Camry last month. I was so nervous about the door jamb that I actually held my breath the whole time. Same trick though - laid it down, backed off, and dusted it from like 14 inches. Came out so smooth the owner thought I buffed the whole side. I swear metallics are just voodoo sometimes and dry dusting is the magic spell.
