Finally crossed 50 custom paint jobs this year - didn't think I'd make it
I've been tracking my paint work since January, mostly out of curiosity. This morning I finished up a candy red respray on a 97 Mustang and when I looked at my log, I was at exactly 51 jobs for the year. Last year I only did around 30 total, so hitting that number before Christmas caught me off guard. It's a good feeling to see the work pile up and know I'm getting faster without sacrificing finish quality. Has anyone else ever kept a running count and surprised themselves with the total?

Wait have you been keeping an actual log of what you did each day? I started doing that with photos of every job a couple years back and it seriously changed how I work. For me the key was writing down the time each one took and what products I used, because now I can look back and see where I wasted time or used the wrong stuff. I was surprised how much faster I got just by picking the same brand of clear coat and sticking with it instead of trying different ones every week. The numbers really add up when you stop second guessing yourself and just go with what works. Good on you for hitting 51, that's solid work for a year of painting.
