Been spraying clear at 90 degrees for a decade, then a painter in Fresno set me straight
I always shot clear coat with my gun temp at whatever the booth was sitting at. 90 degrees on a summer day in the Valley, no big deal, right. Then a guy named Ray who has been spraying since the 80s watched me lay down a hood and asked why my clear was flashing before it leveled. He told me to warm the clear itself in a bucket of hot water first and keep the gun pressure up so it atomizes finer. I thought it was nonsense but tried it on a black Silverado fender. Orange peel basically disappeared and I got a way better flow out with less wet coat. Cost me nothing but a plastic tub and 20 minutes. The finish came out flatter than my old method ever did on a hot day. Anyone else warming their clear or is that just a Central Valley trick.
