Appreciation post: Bagging up our sanding dust for recycling

I mean, it hit me that all that powder was just trash before. Now we set aside bins for it, and the recycling place picks it up. Maybe it's just me, but the shop feels less wasteful.

What exactly do they turn the recycled dust into? I know some places can compress it into particle board or use it for concrete filler. Does your recycling place tell you what the end product is?

Tbh, my buddy worked at a place that did this exact thing. They collected all the sawdust and wood scraps from the floor every day. Then they pressed it all together with some glue under huge heat. Ended up making these particle boards that were actually pretty solid. Ngl, I was shocked how good they looked, like real wood sheets. Honestly, it's wild what they can recycle now.
