A quarter panel replacement on a 2018 Civic took me 14 hours instead of 8

I had this Civic come in last Wednesday with rear quarter damage from a parking lot scrape. Usually I can knock one out in a day no problem, but the inner wheelhouse was tweaked worse than I thought. I ended up having to drill out 22 spot welds because the seam was pulling funny. Then the blend on the door didn't match so I had to respray that too. By the time I got the bumper lined up it was 9 PM and I was dead tired. Has anyone else run into a Civic quarter that just fought back way harder than it should have?

14 hours instead of 8" sounds about right if the inner wheelhouse was pulling. I actually think a lot of Civic quarter jobs are way trickier than people give them credit for, especially on the 10th gen with that sharp body line. Maybe the 8 hour book time is just a dream on those (not that I'd ever say that to an insurance adjuster).

2019 Civic quarter on a black car last spring. Had to pull the inner structure about an inch and a half, and matching that body line across the door gap was a nightmare. Took me closer to 16 hours by the time I was done blending. @susan_wells is totally right, those 10th gens are way more work than the book pays.
