Shoutout to the old guy at the trailhead near Fairbanks who counted my track lugs
Last weekend an older rider walked up to my sled in the parking lot off the Elliott Highway and ran his hand along the track, counting the lugs out loud like it was a ritual. He said back in the 80s everyone did that before a ride because a torn lug meant a long walk home, and I realized I had never once checked mine in 6 seasons of riding. Do you all still look your track over before heading out, or did that habit die with the old machines?
