Riding Big Bear last saturday and my brake line snapped on the downhill

Was coming down the north side trail around 2pm, just past the switchback with the big pine. Hit a rock wrong and the front brake line gave out, locked the wheel and sent me into a bush. Took me 10 minutes to get the bike out and I had to ride the rest of the way with rear brakes only. That was sketchy enough that I checked every line and fitting before I go out now. That trail has loose shale all over and one bad bounce is all it takes. Anyone else had a line failure on a rocky descent and changed how they prep for mountain trips?

Brake line failures are no joke, that sounds like a rough ride. Ngl, I check my hoses and fittings every single time before a big descent now, especially on loose rock. That shale can tear stuff up worse than people think. Smart move going over everything after that, better safe than eating dirt again. Rear brake only down a sketchy trail is asking for trouble.
