My snowmobile ate its own belt 12 miles from the truck in Fairbanks and I fixed it with a stick

Last weekend my buddy and I were ripping around the Chena River trails near Fairbanks when my sled just quit on me, 12 miles out from the parking lot. Popped the hood and the belt was shredded and wrapped around the clutch like spaghetti. I didn't have a spare, a tool kit, or any real plan, so I spent 40 minutes picking belt chunks out with a stick and a Leatherman while my buddy kept saying we should just tow it. Got the last chunk out, limped home at half throttle, and it held together long enough to get back to the truck. So what do you all actually carry for trail fixes, because I clearly need to do better than a stick?
