My 1998 Skidoo sat in a barn near Big Rapids for 9 years, and the seat went from plaid to a mouse condo
Pulled the cover off last Saturday and a family of mice had turned the foam into a full apartment complex, chewed right through the plaid cover I used to think was cool. My buddy Dale said the carbs would be worse, and he was right, green goo everywhere from old gas that sat since 2016. I got it running after 3 hours and about $40 in parts, but now I smell like two stroke and mouse pee. Anyone got a trick for getting that barn smell out of a seat or do I just buy a new one?
The foam turned into a full apartment complex is sending me. Like, they didn't just nest in there, they built a whole little neighborhood with rooms and everything? That's nuts. Nine years is a long time for those mice to get comfortable, so I bet that seat is soaked through with pee down into the foam, not just the cover. You can try scrubbing it with vinegar and baking soda and letting it bake in the sun for a few days, but once mouse pee soaks foam it pretty much never comes out. For 40 bucks in parts you got off easy on the engine, so maybe just eat the cost of a new seat and call it a win.
