Unpopular opinion: I find processing moon photos WAY more satisfying than capturing them.
Figuring out wavelet sharpening in Registax made my lunar craters pop like NEVER before.

Spot on about layer 1 and 2, @jade221. That's where the real detail hides.

Wavelet sharpening in Registax is a game changer for sure. I always start with layer 1 and 2 to bring out the fine details without making it look fake. Spent way too many nights on that lol.

Totally agree about starting with layer 1 and 2. I read a guide that said going too hard on the higher layers just adds noise. Makes sense to keep it looking real.
