Tripped over my tripod at 2 a.m. chasing the Milky Way core

I drove 40 miles to Cherry Springs State Park in PA last month, got my framing perfect, then fumbled in the dark reaching for my remote shutter and knocked the whole rig onto gravel. The lens hood cracked and my polar alignment was toast, so I spent 20 minutes redoing everything while the sky got brighter. Anybody else have a gear disaster that actually turned into a better shot than you planned?

lol that title had me rolling. honestly, you kinda deserved it for chasing a photo that cliché anyway. the milky way core over cherry springs is like the most basic astro shot you can get in PA, every 18 year old with a dslr does it. the cracked hood probably saved you from a worse fate, like spending the whole night pixel peeping a boring sky. maybe the real universe was trying to tell you to pack it up and grab a 7-11 taquito instead. i bet your best shot that night was your face when the tripod hit the ground. go post that instead.
