That old man at the observatory changed how I look at every photo now

Back in 2017 I was at the Griffith Park public night, zooming in on Jupiter with my phone held up to the eyepiece, and this retired guy next to me just laughed softly. He pointed at a blurry orange dot and said "that light left Io while I was still teaching middle school, you're seeing a ghost, not a planet." Now I always check the light travel time before I post anything, does anyone else feel weird knowing every shot is technically history?
