That comment about lunar terminator shots in a mag made me rethink my timing
I was reading a 2023 Sky & Telescope issue at the library and some astrophotographer mentioned how they only shoot the moon when it's between 20-30% illuminated, not full. I usually went for full moons because they look dramatic, but after trying a waxing crescent over Tucson last Tuesday, the crater shadows along the terminator were way more defined. Does anyone else plan their lunar captures around this phase range, or do you just go whenever the sky clears?
