That $200 telescope I bought off Facebook Marketplace was a total bust
I picked up what was advertised as a 'professional-grade' reflector scope from a guy in Denver for $200, but when I set it up last week to catch the Orion Nebula, the mirror was so scratched it was like looking through frosted glass. Turns out he'd stored it in a damp garage for years and the coating was ruined beyond repair. Has anyone else gotten stuck with junk gear from online resellers?

Damp garage? That's brutal." Yep, been there. Before you buy any used scope, ask for a photo of the mirror with a flashlight shining on it. Scratches or fog will show up clear as day.
