Showerthought: I spent $400 on a cheap motor for my telescope mount back in 2015 and it ruined a whole night's worth of shots.
The tracking was so jittery that every single 5-minute exposure of the Orion Nebula I took that night came out with these weird, squiggly star trails, which was a real bummer after driving two hours to a dark sky site.

Spinning in circles" is the worst. That's just gear having a full-on meltdown.

Ever feel like your gear is actively trying to sabotage you? My first cheap mount just gave up and spun in circles, like it was trying to find its keys.

That's not really sabotage, that's just a cheap part failing. It's more like your gear just got tired and quit. Sabotage would be if it waited for the perfect shot to die on purpose. A mount spinning in circles is just sad, not evil.
