Rented a 200mm lens for a week, now my 70-300 feels like a toy

I had a trip to Death Valley planned and couldn't decide between renting that big glass or just making do with my old zoom, so I dropped $180 for the week and shot the Milky Way over the dunes. Now I'm wondering if I should just save up for months or keep renting every time I go somewhere dark, what do you all do?
