Hit 500 photos of the Orion Nebula last night, my 8 inch dob made me giddy like a kid

I've been shooting the same target for like 3 months now, stacking frames every clear night. Last night I hit exactly 500 total subs and when I stacked them all, the detail in the dust lanes just popped. I never thought a number would matter so much, 500 sounded arbitrary but it was the tipping point where noise finally disappeared. Anyone else have a specific frame count that changed how a photo looked for them?

Whoa, okay, easy there Hubble. I mean, congrats on the 500 subs, but that's kind of a weird flex. Like, are you sure it's the number and not just that you finally had a super steady night of seeing? I've had stacks of 200 look like trash and 150 look amazing just because the atmosphere behaved. Numbers in this hobby are more like a vibe check, not a magic switch. I'd bet your mount and polar alignment did more for you than hitting that round number.
