Heads up about those cheap solar filters on Amazon - almost wrecked my scope

Last week I got a solar filter off Amazon for like 15 bucks and thought I was good to go for the partial eclipse. Set it up on my 8-inch dob in my backyard in Phoenix and took maybe three photos before I noticed the film was actually warping from the heat. Looked closer and saw a tiny pinhole starting to form right near the edge. That thing couldve burned a hole through my mirror in minutes or worse damaged my eye. Anyone else run into fake or dangerous solar filters from random sellers lately?

Warping from the heat?" That's a hard lesson right there.

Ugh yeah @leo238, nothing like spending hours on a print just to have it turn into a taco because you forgot to let the bed cool down. I've definitely had a few pieces that looked more like modern art than what I actually wanted. At least now you've got a cool paperweight or a funky conversation starter, right?
