Dropped $60 on a solar filter for my telescope and nearly burned my eye out
I bought this budget solar filter off Amazon for my 8-inch dob, thought I was being smart. First time using it, I lined everything up and saw a tiny bright spot on the lens - turns out there was a pinhole defect in the film. Could have fried my retina if I hadn't noticed the glare first. Anyone else ever get burned by cheap solar gear before?
