Can we talk about using a kitchen colander for star alignment?

I found that placing a colander over my camera lens helps frame star clusters. It's a silly trick but actually works for getting rough alignment before I make small adjustments.

Guess it's a good way to find constellations and drain pasta.

That colander trick is legit weird but it does work. Tried it last summer with my old DSLR. The holes make a quick grid pattern so you can spot clusters fast. Gives you a solid starting point before the tiny tweaks.

Doesn't that just block the stars you're trying to see?
