Am I the only one who thinks the 'before and after' shots of the Andromeda Galaxy from 2012 vs 2024 show way more change than just tech upgrades?

I saw these two photos side by side and the 2024 one clearly has a brighter core and more defined dust lanes, but is that all just better processing or did the galaxy actually change in 12 years, and how much of that is the new telescopes vs real cosmic shifts?

Yeah I read something about this from an astronomer who said the 2024 images are mostly just better instruments and processing. The galaxy itself hasn't changed that much in 12 years, space just moves real slow.

Is it bad that my own "before and after" shots from 12 years ago mostly show me getting worse at taking selfies, not better? Seriously though, the galaxy probably hasn't changed much, we're just looking at it with way fancier gear now.
