Thought I could shave 30 minutes off a grooming job, now I'm eating my words

I've been grooming dogs for 8 years and always swore I could knock out a full poodle trim in 90 minutes flat. Then last Tuesday a Bernedoodle came in with mats so tight I had to hand-scissor around the armpits for 45 minutes alone. Ended up taking me 3 hours and 10 minutes total. Has anyone else had a routine task suddenly balloon into a whole afternoon?

90 minutes for a full poodle trim is really ambitious, even for someone with 8 years of experience. Most show poodle clips take me closer to 2 and a half hours if everything goes smooth. That Bernedoodle sounds like a nightmare though, hand scissoring matted armpits for 45 minutes is brutal.

Used a 30 blade on the tightest spots first, then flipped to a 10 for the rest. Saved me a ton of time on the matted parts.
