Spent 6 hours fixing a rattling noise in my car that turned out to be a loose soda can

I heard this awful rattle under my Honda Civic for like a week. Took it to a shop in Chicago who quoted me $400 to check the suspension. Before I paid I decided to look myself, so I crawled under there for what felt like forever. Found a crushed soda can stuck between the heat shield and the frame. Anyone else waste way too much time chasing a simple noise?

Did you at least get to keep the can? My greatest shame was chasing a weird ticking noise in my truck for two weekends straight... ended up being a loose air freshener swinging back and forth from the rearview mirror. My wife still brings it up whenever I complain about car problems. $400 for a suspension check sounds about right for Chicago though, those shops will rob you blind.

Feel your pain man. Did the same thing with a loose change cup that drove me insane for three days before I realized it was just sitting in the door pocket.
