Spent 4 hours hunting a phantom drain on my truck battery

Turns out the dome light was staying on because the door switch was stuck from a piece of gravel in the hinge. Ever had a fix that simple take way too long to find?

Wait, didn't @river182 mention Ford has a TSB for that shudder? That just proves how many little things slip through the cracks when you're dealing with a modern vehicle. A buddy of mine had a similar wild goose chase on his Silverado - spent two weekends chasing a parasitic draw, replaced the alternator and a relay, only to find a loose ground strap on the engine block that was barely making contact. Sometimes the simple stuff hides so well you'd swear the truck was haunted, and you end up chasing ghosts for hours.

Read somewhere Ford had a TSB for something similar on the F-150s.

Funny you mention that @river182, my buddy runs a small repair shop and he swore off working on those F-150s after three came in with the same weird shudder in the same month. He said Ford's official fix was basically just a software update that smoothed things out, but the owners were convinced it was a transmission rebuild. I guess it paid off for him when one guy traded his truck in for a Ram right after.
