Rant: My old router vs the new one after 4 days in this apartment

Moved into a new place in Denver last month and brought my trusty old Netgear from like 2016. First week was brutal. Constant buffering on my laptop in the bedroom, maybe 20 feet from the living room. Got so fed up I grabbed a refurbished TP-Link AX3000 on Tuesday. Now I'm getting full signal everywhere and my ping in games dropped from 120 to 45. Has anyone else seen a huge jump just from switching to a newer router model?

Lol "from like 2016" - that thing was basically a fossil at this point. I upgraded from a similar ancient Netgear to a WiFi 6 router last year and my jaw dropped when my PS5 finally stopped trying to buffer forever. The ping difference is wild too, went from 90-100 down to 30-40 just from not having the router choke on itself every time my roommate started a zoom call. Seriously though, going from that old hardware to an AX3000 is like trading a horse and buggy for a Tesla, night and day difference.

Totally agree with you @the_anna, swapping that old Netgear for a WiFi 6 router fixed everything for me too.
