Old paper maps beat my phone GPS during a Philly road trip last month

I used to think apps were the only way, but I grabbed a real folded map from a gas station for fun and it saved us twice. The phone kept rerouting us into construction zones and dead ends around Manayunk, while the map showed the actual grid and side streets to avoid. We found a diner called The Lucky Bean that wasn't listed anywhere online, just by tracing a back road. My buddy laughed at first, but after the third wrong turn he asked to hold the map. There is something about seeing the whole city at once instead of a tiny screen slice that just works better. Anyone else keep a paper map in the car for backup or am I the odd one out now?
