My inbox was a disaster until last Thursday

Honestly, I used to just let emails pile up and only reply to the ones that felt urgent. Last Thursday, I missed a payment reminder from my landlord because it got buried under 40 spam messages. I spent two hours that night sorting through everything and setting up filters. Now I check my inbox twice a day and sort by sender priority. It's not perfect yet but I already feel less stressed. Has anyone else had luck with a specific system for keeping their email clean?

Missed a payment reminder from my landlord" yeah that's a classic move. I did the same thing once and got hit with a late fee that cost more than my dinner for the week. Setting up filters is smart, but honestly I just gave up and forward everything important to my phone's text messages now. At least those don't get buried under fifty newsletters from stores I bought one thing from five years ago. Your landlord probably thinks you're a little more interesting than a spam folder now.

Oh man, I feel your pain so hard. I had the exact same wake-up call when I missed a client's invoice that was due, and they added a 50 dollar late fee. What finally worked for me was creating three simple folders: "Action Today," "This Week," and "Read Later." Everything else gets sorted automatically by a filter into a "Maybe Someday" folder that I only check once a week. I also set up my phone to buzz for emails from my top five contacts plus anything with "urgent" in the subject line. It sounds basic but honestly it stopped me from drowning in the noise. You're already on the right track, just keep tweaking those filters until they feel natural.
