My garage door died at 11pm on a Sunday and I had to leave my car on the street in the rain
The torsion spring snapped on my 16 year old door right as I was pulling in last week. I stood there in the rain in Austin with my groceries getting soaked because the door would only come up a few inches. Called two places and the soonest anyone could come was Tuesday for $340, so I watched a video and cranked it open with a pair of vice grips. Took me almost 2 hours and my hands are still sore. Has anyone here dealt with a broken spring before, and did you just pay the guy or try it yourself?
